Showcasing Spain’s New Cinematic Voices
New Spanish Cinema is a film showcase dedicated to celebrating the most exciting voices in contemporary Spanish cinema. Each year, we bring to Vancouver a carefully curated selection of recent films that highlight the creativity, diversity, and innovation of Spain’s new generation of filmmakers.
Our mission is to connect audiences with fresh perspectives from Spain’s vibrant film scene —from award-winning directors to emerging talents— and to foster cultural exchange through the power of cinema.

Our Team & History
The festival is coordinated by Cristina Serrano, Javier Muñoz Venegas, and Víctor Martínez from Aja Entertainment and Iberoamerican Images, in collaboration with Tom Charity, director and programmer of the Vancouver International Film Festival. It is also supported by local brands and prominent institutions across Vancouver.
Since its first edition in 2013, New Spanish Cinema has hosted four successful editions, with the sixth edition currently taking place, continuing its mission to bring the best of Spanish storytelling to Canadian audiences.
